The Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) has 1567 PCA total churches: 1440 churches (92% of PCA churches) report less than 400 in worship attendance, and 127 churches (8% of PCA churches) report more than 400 in worship attendance. Of these 127 churches:

  • 67 churches report between 401-600

  • 34 churches report between 601-1000

  • 22 churches report between 1001-2000

  • 4 churches report over 2000 worshipers per week

Note:

  • The 127 largest PCA churches have 40% of total PCA worshippers.

  • Of the 4 largest PCA churches: the 2 largest are Korean language churches, 3 are led by Asian Americans, 2 of the 3 are in Korean language Presbyteries, and only 1 is in the Southeast.

  • These reports are not membership totals but “worship attendance” totals. Healthy churches often have more worship attenders than members.

  • In Canada (Toronto and Ottawa) many of the largest churches are not English-speaking (Korean and Chinese).

Reference: This information is adapted from PCA pastor Sam DeSocio’s research on worship attendance on the larger PCA churches using the PCA 2019 PCA Yearbook – which is preCOVID. We won't have the latest worship attendance reports until the 2022 or 2023 PCA Yearbook.
